As we update our course catalog and streamline academic infrastructure, you may see a new professor or a slight change in your schedule, which is a normal part of the class registration process. We remain fully dedicated to providing the high-quality, high-engagement experience that defines JU and prepares you to make a meaningful impact in your chosen field.

We recognize that these decisions affect the majors of about 100 of our 4,200 students. We are going to support them all the way through their graduation from this University. We have a trained, talented Care Team made up of experienced representatives from the registrar’s office, student affairs, academic advising, student financial affairs and the career exploration office. The Care Team is already working with impacted students on their personalized academic plan.

The decision to reimagine our academic offerings was made after a thorough review of the university’s academic offerings with a focus on student's success, meeting market needs, and creating long-term financial sustainability. We are committed to supporting our students through this transition to ensure they achieve their academic and personal goals.

The decision-making was informed by ongoing feedback, student representation in related discussions, a strong understanding of student priorities and concerns, enrollment patterns and majors most in demand. We made every effort to ensure student perspectives were considered, and we remain committed to continued dialogue as we move forward.

¶¶ÒõÊÓƵ remains fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. All of the programs that are being taught out remain fully accredited by their respective bodies.

Consolidating the Stein College and the COAS into the new Linda Berry Stein College of Arts and Sciences will allow the University to strengthen interdisciplinary program collaboration and provide our students with a more intentional, integrated academic experience that promotes practical knowledge and adaptability in the evolving global career market. It will also streamline resources to create a college similar in size to our other undergraduate degree-awarding colleges.

We do not expect these program changes to impact scholarships. Students who meet all of their scholarship requirements (such as maintaining a minimum GPA) can expect their scholarship support to continue. If you have questions about your financial aid or scholarships, please reach out to the Care Team at CareTeam@ju.edu.

If your major is impacted, the Registrar's office will work with you on an individualized path to graduation. In some cases, this could mean changing from a BFA to a BA, and in some cases, students will need to switch to a related major. Each student is unique and the university will support you with a customized plan.
